WHAT SICILIA EN PRIMEUR IS
Sicilia en Primeur, created in 2004, is an annual event intended to promote and present to the Italian and international press both the latest vintages and those already on the market from the wineries belonging to Assovini Sicilia; it is also an itinerant event aimed at valorizing Sicily’s various winemaking districts and their excellent wine & food products.
The originality and uniqueness of the event lies in offering its guests a many-sided approach to Sicilian wine, starting from a “broad-range” tasting of a representative selection of en primeur (early) wines and others beginning to fully express their personalities. Also integral to the event are tours of the various wine districts – from Monreale to Marsala, the Belice Valley to the Agrigento area, the Madonie mountains, Ragusa and the Val di Noto – as well as discussions led by producers and journalists and educational sessions. An ensemble of approaches making it easier to read a complex panorama of excellent winemakers interpreting Italy’s largest viticultural region.
